Richard Saunders is an artist working in Project Ability’s Aspire workshops. As a nonverbal artist, Saunders’ visual vocabulary often consists of linework that mimics writing. Letters and numbers can sometimes appear, as well as kisses, flowers, bees, birds, trees, stones and animals! The overall impression is one of colourful, joyous scribbles, with the occasional hint of a word or image.

Saunders’ abstract drawings are mesmerising to look at, and his repeat motif, along with a monochromatic colour scheme, brings the body of work together into a cohesive and beautiful showcase. Project Ability are delighted to celebrate Scottish Learning Disability Week by exhibiting Saunders’ artwork for the first time in their Gallery II at Trongate 103.
