Living a good life? People First Highland Conference 2026
About
Living a Good Life? | People First Highland Annual Conference 2026
People First Highland is Spirit Advocacy’s collective advocacy service for adults with learning disabilities across Highland. Our Annual Conference 2026 will celebrate Scottish Learning Disability Week by asking one important question: What does it take to live a good life?
The conference will be led by the voices and experiences of people with learning disabilities. Together, we will explore three themes:
❤️ Health, wellbeing and support – getting the right help and support to feel well and live the life you want.
🤝 Relationships and connection – having people in your life, feeling connected and being part of your community.
🌟 Respect, rights and reducing stigma – being treated fairly, with dignity and respect.
There will be short contributions to introduce each theme, followed by relaxed and accessible table discussions where people can share their experiences, ideas and priorities. What people tell us will help inform People First Highland’s collective advocacy work with NHS Highland and other partners.
The event is primarily for adults with learning disabilities in Highland. Family members, carers, support workers, advocacy organisations, health and social care staff and community organisations are also welcome.
The conference is free, including lunch. Reasonable travel expenses can also be claimed.
